23 Week Meek

03.26.09

Mini-Meek is kicking up a storm! Ever since that first little tap at 19 weeks, the taps have been turning into pokes, jabs, & kicks.

Every day from 10am-11am is serious workout time for our little human ocotopus. I'm not sure why, but it's like clockwork. I get kicks most of the day, but 10am must be the official happy hour in the womb.

Never the less, I can NEVER EVER get Daddy-o to feel these serious belly acrobatics. EVERY time he puts his hand on my belly, baby stops. Not so much as a flutter. Jeremy must have a disciplinarian hand already. ;)

I tried to explain the feeling to him when the wiggling around is at it's greatest -- best I could come up with was a cat in a bag......an upset cat, minus the claws. :p

21 Week Meek

03.12.09

Ultrasound Check up with Dr. McCulloch at Maternal Fetal Medicine.

Mini-Meek is measuring on time, due date still stands at 07.23.09. During the ultrasound we got to see our baby wiggling around, sucking on fingers, waving....very baby like! Too bad the ultrasound PICTURE we have resembles more of an alien. ;)

03.13.09

21 week check up with Dr. Alexander. Momma's uterus/baby's current home is now up to my belly button. Again, measuring on schedule, not too big, not too small. Heartbeat still sounding strong. Peed in the cup, stood on the scale....

19 Week Meek

02.26.09

You ARE in there! Mini-Meek and Mom finally discover each other.....

After waiting and waiting to feel "movement" - Momma quite shamefully speant a good part of the evening bouncing around and poking her belly. After much antagonizing -- while laying VERY still on the couch, she finally felt a tiny tiny little tap in there.

Another 19 week milestone -- Dad put together the shelf for our dresser in the "nursery" aka. the nook. So we finally have space for a crib, once we find one. To celebrate, Momma went out and purchased the vallance for the bedding set...just to make it look a LITTLE bit like we plan to put a baby in there ;)

The world needs one more Cubs fan. Today, Mini-Meek got his or her first Cubs jersey! (And no, this doesn't mean it's a boy, any girl of ours will be happy to wear Cubbie blue!)

18 Week Meek

02.17.09

18 week check up with Dr. Alexander. It's becoming routine now: pee in the cup, stand on the scale, feelin' good? -- High five the Dr. and out you go! (With ridiculous bills to follow of course) ;)

Check up went well. Mini-Meek's heartbeat sounded great, Mom's weight is on track (how can this be?!?) Other than already having back pain....so far so good!

02.03.09 We LOVE Donna at Maternal Fetal Medicine!

The same woman who called us with the "bad" news initially, was able to call us with the "good" news! A day earlier than expected, Donna from Maternal Fetal Medicine called with our amnio test results! All Normal! Fantastic news! Miraculously, we got the call while we were both home on a lunch break, so I could share the news with Dad right away!

Donna: Congratulations! Do you know what you're having?
Momma: No! And we don't want to know!
Donna: (Slyly...) Ooooh, OK.
Momma: Hmmm, but based on our test results, you know for sure don't you?
Donna: I suuuure do.

That was pretty hard info to turn down. But we're just happy Mini-Meek is healthy and happy in there! :) Gender is still a big surprise!

Amniocentesis!

The first trimester screening came back with a few concerning numbers. Worried about our little Mini-Meek's health we decided to continue on with further recommended testing. On 02.02.09, Mom & Dad to be returned to Maternal Fetal Medicine to have an amniocentesis with Dr. McCulloch. (Anyone who knows Momma, knows this was not enjoyable.)

The procedure went "well", and we ordered what are called "FISH" results (Flash Imaging something or nother...) so that we would have results back within 48 hours. Two weeks standard result time was not sufficient for our nerves!

13 Week Meek

Our first visit with Dr. McCulloch for 1st Trimester Screening at Maternal Fetal Medicine was on 01.15.09! (Happy Birthday Aunt Colleen!) ;) And our first ultrasound that showed anything that resembled a baby, YAY!

8 Week Meek

12.15.08
Baby's First Photo (or rather, first ultrasound) and our first Doctor visit was 12.15.08!

We got to hear Mini-Meek's heartbeat for the first time! There really is a baby in there!

Dr. Alexander set our due date as 07.23.09 today!
